Chulu West was first ascended in 1952 by a Japanese Expedition. The Base Camp of this peak is situated in a small valley north of Manang, off the main trail to the Thorang La. this trip sets out from Beshi Sahar, the district headquarters of Lamjung a neighboring district of Gorkha. From Beshi Sahar the trail leads up slowly to wards Manang valley, one of he highest valleys of the world situated at an altitude of 5000m. One-day rest will be set to explore the Manang Valley and for the acclimatization. From Manang valley the route eads north to lead and on to the Chulu West Base camp. Three days are set a side for the ascent of this peak and you head to Thorong-La pass which is 5,350 m. and follow the same route come back to Kathmandu as in the “Around Annapurna Trek”.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,265ft)
Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Take some time to rest and recover from your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the vibrant streets of Kathmandu, filled with bustling markets, ancient temples, and colorful street vendors.
Day 2: Drive to Dharapani (1,946m/6,383ft)
Today, embark on an adventurous drive from Kathmandu to Dharapani, a small village in the Manang District. Enjoy scenic views of terraced fields, lush forests, and traditional Nepali villages as you make your way towards the Annapurna Conservation Area. Upon reaching Dharapani, settle into your lodge and relax after a long day of travel.
Day 3: Trek to Chame (2,800m/9,185ft)
Begin your trekking adventure with a scenic hike to Chame. The trail takes you through picturesque landscapes, including pine forests, roaring rivers, and charming villages. As you gain altitude, you’ll notice the air becoming crisper and the views more spectacular. Arrive in Chame, the administrative headquarters of the Manang District, where you’ll spend the night at a cozy lodge.
Day 4: Trek to Pisang (3,200m/10,497ft)
Today’s trek leads you to Pisang, a quaint village nestled amidst towering mountains. Traverse through lush valleys and cross suspension bridges over mountain streams. As you ascend higher, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including Annapurna II and Pisang Peak. Reach Pisang in the afternoon and unwind at your lodge, soaking in the tranquility of the Himalayas.
Day 5: Trek to Manang (3,540m/11,612ft)
Continue your journey towards Manang, a picturesque village situated on the northern slopes of the Annapurna range. The trail winds through rocky terrain and alpine meadows, offering breathtaking vistas of snow-capped peaks and emerald valleys. Arrive in Manang, a hub for trekkers and climbers, and spend the night acclimatizing to the high altitude.
Day 6: Acclimatization day in Manang (3,540m/11,612ft)
Today is dedicated to acclimatization to ensure your body adjusts properly to the altitude. Stroll around Manang, exploring its Tibetan-influenced culture and visiting nearby monasteries. Relax and hydrate, preparing yourself for the challenges ahead in the trek.
Day 7: Trek to Leter (4,200m/13,777ft)
Embark on a scenic trek to Leter, a small settlement in the heart of the Himalayas. The trail gradually ascends through rugged terrain, offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks and glacial valleys. Arrive in Leter and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by the pristine beauty of the mountains.
Day 8: Trek to Chulu West Base Camp (4,810m/15,777ft)
Today’s trek takes you to the base camp of Chulu West, a challenging yet rewarding ascent. Traverse rocky terrain and moraine fields as you make your way towards higher altitudes. Upon reaching the base camp, take in the awe-inspiring scenery and prepare for the climb ahead.
Day 9: Trek to High Camp (5,100/16,729ft)
Continue your ascent towards the high camp of Chulu West. The trail becomes steeper and more challenging as you gain altitude, requiring careful navigation and endurance. Arrive at the high camp and rest, refueling your energy for the final push to the summit.
Day 10: Ascent to Camp I (5,530m/18,139ft)
Today, embark on the ascent to Camp I, the starting point for your summit push. Navigate through icy slopes and rocky terrain, using crampons and ropes for safely traverse the mountain. Reach Camp I and settle in for the night, preparing yourself mentally and physically for the challenging climb ahead.
Day 11: Summit Chulu West (6,419m/21,055ft)
The moment you’ve been waiting for has arrived – summit day! Start early in the morning to take advantage of the best weather conditions and maximize your chances of success. Follow your experienced guides as you make your way towards the summit of Chulu West, overcoming steep ridges and icy slopes. Reach the summit and savor the exhilarating feeling of accomplishment as you take panoramic views of the Himalayas stretching out before you. Descend back to Camp I for a well-deserved rest.
Day 12: Reserve Day (in case of unfavorable weather)
Today serves as a reserve day in case of unfavorable weather or any unforeseen circumstances during the summit attempt. Use this day to rest and recover, or explore the surrounding area if the weather permits.
Day 13: Trek to Phedi (4,545m/14,908ft)
Bid farewell to the majestic peaks of Chulu West as you begin your descent towards Phedi. Retrace your steps along the trail, marveling at the beauty of the landscape from a different perspective. Arrive in Phedi and spend the night at a cozy lodge, reminiscing about your summit experience.
Day 14: Trek to Muktinath (3,694m/12,117ft)
Continue your trek to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. The trail takes you through arid landscapes and barren hillsides, offering striking contrasts to the lush greenery of earlier stages. Arrive in Muktinath and visit the famous temple complex, known for its natural springs and eternal flame. Spend the night in Muktinath, immersing yourself in the spiritual ambiance of the region.
Day 15: Trek to Jomsom (2,710m / 8,889ft)
Embark on the final leg of your trek towards Jomsom, a charming town nestled in the Kali Gandaki Valley. The trail descends gradually, passing through quaint villages and apple orchards. Arrive in Jomsom, where you’ll catch your breath and celebrate the completion of your trek with fellow trekkers. Spend the night in Jomsom, reflecting on the incredible journey you’ve undertaken.
Day 16: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara
Say goodbye to the mountains as you board a scenic flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Enjoy aerial views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges as you soar above the clouds. Upon arrival in Pokhara, transfer to your hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing by the tranquil lakeside or exploring the charming streets of Pokhara.
Day 17: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu
Bid farewell to the enchanting city of Pokhara as you board a short flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and take some time to unwind after your adventurous journey. Spend the rest of the day exploring Kathmandu or shopping for souvenirs to commemorate your trip.
Day 18: Final Departure
All good things must come to an end, and today marks the conclusion of your Himalayan adventure. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to explore Kathmandu or do some last-minute shopping before transferring to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey.
